Born in Busan in 1948, architect Sung Kwan Lee has been heading HANUL Architects & Engineers Inc. since founding the company in 1981. He has been recognized as one of the most prolific architects in Korea, having received many prestigious architecture prizes. He was noted for winning the Korean Architecture Award 3 times in a row with his works ‘Jo Man Sik Memorial Hall & Westminster Hall at Soongsil University’, ‘Banpo 577’, and ‘Tanheo Memorial Museum’. Lee graduated from the School of Architecture of Seoul National University and the Graduate School of Architecture of Seoul National University, and also studied his masters at Columbia University. A member of the American Institute of Architects, Lee is a part time professor at Yonsei University and Hanyang University and a lecturer at Seoul National University.
